Program Description

Read and be inspired with us!

Join your grantmaker colleagues as we launch our second-annual Philanthropy Missouri Member Book Club.

This book club is intended to convene and connect grantmakers who are interested in exploring sector perspectives, with the understanding that enhanced knowledge and relationships can inform our work as grantmakers and collaborators.

Thank you for your nominations for this year's selection. We're pleased to announce we will read From Generosity to Justice: A New Gospel of Wealth by Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation.

Drawing inspiration from philanthropists past and present, Walker critically considers the role of the sector in the 21st century through the lens of the question: If there’s a continuum between generosity and justice, how do we push our work closer to the latter?

At this brief 30-minute kick-off session, we’ll introduce our 2022 co-facilitators and discuss our objectives.

You don't have to read the book in advance of the kick-off meeting. The full book discussion will take place on Wednesday, July 13, from 10:00-11:30 am; registration for that conversation is coming soon.

For more information on the book and to download your free audio or digital copy, click here. If you'd like a physical copy of the book, please indicate that in your registration for the July 13 Summer Book Club: Discussion.

Please see 2022 Summer Book Club Event Materials for supplemental resources and guided reading questions.

Special thanks to the Trio Foundation of St. Louis for their support of diversity, equity, and inclusion programming opportunities for Missouri grantmakers.
