Much Alarm, Less Action: Foundations and Climate Change

This report examines how CEOs of U.S.-based foundations and nonprofits perceive the issue of climate change and how it will affect their work. Though 60 percent of those surveyed believe climate change is an urgent problem, a relatively small percentage of foundation dollars go toward efforts to address these issues. The research reveals that leaders of climate-focused nonprofits and foundations see opportunity for philanthropy to engage more deeply with the issue of climate change. The report contains a list of resources for funders as well as snapshots of both climate foundation leaders’ reported approaches to addressing climate change and nonprofit leaders’ approaches to addressing the issue.
